In this exploratory study, we aim to examine
the geographic distribution and attributes of street trees across NYC
and potential associations with sociodemographic variables and health
outcomes. This research will aid in informing public health
interventions to promote equitable access to urban street trees and
improve health.
Main Research Questions:
How are trees geographically
distributed throughout New York
City?
How are different tree
attributes, quality, and
health related to each other, and does this differ by borough?
How does access to trees vary by
socio-demographic categories by
borough and neighborhoods?
Is there a relationship between tree distribution and
health outcomes related to asthma and heat
stress?
